About
Hey there, I’m David Sheffield and I make my home in Northumberland County, Ontario. I’m interested in storytelling, oral history practice, and amplifying the beautiful things that emerge through community collaboration. In my creative work, I explore the ways that personal narratives are shaped by memory, landscape, and social conditions.
Projects
I Belong Here
Blending oral history, art, and community engagement, I Belong Here offers a deeply human perspective on social struggles shared by communities everywhere. Over the first half of 2025, I collaborated with nine people to record and shape their own life stories using oral history practice. These neighbours (that I've known for some time) have experienced being reduced to a stigmatizing label such as homeless, addicted, or mentally ill. We worked together to tell a fuller, more nuanced, story in their own voice.

Street View
A growing collection of images captured in passing. I have a habit of documenting my days with a camera as a way of paying attention to the life unfolding around me.
